This year we ran into a problem we have never experienced before. We
had to decide between three different motors for our architecture. It
was a nice position to be in since we normally hav e only one option.
After carefull consideration, much debate, and a series of
presentations outlining the benefits and risks of the three choices, a
decision was made. With the help of faculty and staff here at CAR we
decided to use the Ballard Motor and TIM. The main considerations were
that this is more compact than the EV1 and that it is a complete
system tuned to one another unlike the other choice (Siemen's
motor with Ballard TIM). Now we can get to installing our rear electric
drive! Needless to say, the team is excited to be moving to the build
phase.
