The Ohio State Challenge X team is an eclectic mix of engineers and artisans, in all stages of their academic careers. Our operational headquarters is the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) at OSU, and our faculty advisor is Dr. Giorgio Rizzoni, director of CAR and professor of mechanical and electrical engineering.
Due to the nature of this competition, many electrical and mechanical engineers have joined to learn, and to work with faculty and industry. But numerous students from the business and communications fields have also come aboard to guide the team's vital marketing and public relations activities as well.
The team is organized into sub-groups with a strong focus in a specific area and led by an individual with a strong interest and expertise in this area. Any interest directly pertaining to any of these areas may be directed to these leaders.
- Electrical systems: batteries, switch boxes, wiring and routing. Led by Sean Ewing.
- Powertrain: diesel engine and transmission. Led by Craig Pavlich and Eric Schacht.
- Control strategy: the theoretical aspects of control, and their simulation. Led by Kerem Koprubasi.
- Systems integration: vehicle controller programming, control systems implementation, CAN networking. Led by Sean Ewing, John Kruckenberg, and Eric Schacht.
- System administration: web and computer maintenance. Led by John Kruckenberg.
- Telematics: driver information display, multimedia and data logging. Led by Chris Seeley and John Kruckenberg .
The Engineering Team Roster lists the members and their interests for the core team working with technical aspects of the Equinox. The team also includes a Marketing Group that works to promote the program and publicize it through out the community. Questions and inquiries may be addressed to any of us, or the team leader, Craig Pavlich.
