Several members from the team will be departing for California on Nov 26, for a 10 competition for the car.
Twice a year (Fall and Winter) teams are invited to attend workshops hosted by the competition’s organizers, during which technical trainings, information on the competition’s requirements, and various aspects of competition-related expectations (such as outreach) are reviewed. Typically, team members are also treated to excellent dinners and entertainment events. 2007-08’s Fall Workshop followed this traditional format and was hosted by the Mathworks in Boston. For the fourth year of ChallengeX, the Winter Workshop involves a “competition” though it is really more of a vehicle readiness inspection and a media event including the vehicles. In addition to normal workshop activities, teams will have several opportunities to show their vehicles off, drive them over the road, and some of the vehicles may even be driven by the public or by special guests of the competition. Many activities have been planned for the attending teams (see schedule), but chief among these are a media ride and drive at the Peterson Auto Museum in LA (Nov. 29), and a vehicle display and drive at the EVS-23 Electric Vehicle Expo (Dec 2-3). Team participation is limited, but the attending team is very excited about the opportunity to attend EVS as well as many of the associated educational opportunities surrounding the conference.
